IT Project Manager
Job Summary: The IT Project Manager will provide direction and guidance to project teams to ensure alignment with the IT Project Governance Methodology, reporting to the IT Program & Portfolio Manager. The position bridges the gap between business partners and technology solution providers for specific projects. The IT Project Manager must be proficient in managing technology projects for applications, integration and infrastructure projects. The role is responsible for partnering with line of business leaders and key stakeholders to align technology projects to optimize the value IT delivers and to accomplish the business strategy.
In this role, the primary responsibilities include leading project teams through project management rigor, competencies, and methods to support successful project execution. In addition, the role will manage project financials, participate in requirements gathering, establish and update project schedules and provide regular project updates to senior leaders with critical information for decision making.
Duties:
- Initiation, Planning, Execution and Closure of multiple complex IT projects
- Utilize scheduling resources and time management
- Coordinate work teams consisting of company team members and vendors
- Incorporate risk mitigation strategy and contingency plan
- Perform analysis that reflects actual vs. planned variances
- Responsible for overseeing the execution of IT projects/programs by ensuring the quality, completeness, tracking and reporting of work items as they flow between participants in key business process
- Accountable for project charter, documentation of requirements and testing strategy linked back to the requirements in the scope of the project deliverables.
- Project schedule development, status reporting, communications planning and management using the corporate standard processes and tools
- Manage project financials, including budget, forecast, and actuals tracking
- Oversee Organizational Change Management – strategy, communication plans, end user training
- Perform project closing activities including operational transition planning and execution
- Proven leader and trusted advisor championing project needs to deliver predictable and repeatable project results
- Track and prepare monthly metrics using Planisware, Excel, PowerPoint or other tools. Prepare forecasts of project spending and cash flows, budget variance monitoring, and schedule compliance. Issue reports to senior leaders
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of IT project management experience with projects of increasing complexity of size and scope, and a proven track record of handling multiple projects concurrently with successful project delivery results
- Proficient in Waterfall, Agile and blended project methodologies
- Experienced with Organizational Change Management strategy and execution
- Experienced managing large application delivery and integration projects including negotiating with software, hardware and infrastructure providers, working with matrixed teams, green field builds, migrations, and decommissioning legacy applications
- Proficient in Budget / Financial Management including Business Case completion
- Demonstrate problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills to effectively manage project stakeholders – internal and external
- Experienced in facilitating project meetings and standups
- Adherence to Project Lifecycle Management (Initiation, Planning, Execution and Closure)
- Business Knowledge: Proficient in multiple business disciplines and functions
- Project Management Professional Certification – PMP a plus but not required
